Aron Zoltan Szekely, Dancer Aron's exposure to folk music and dance started as soon as he wasborn, his father
being one of the most prominent folk violinists in Hungary and his mother the solo
dancer for the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble. He began to formally study Hungarian
folk dance in his early teens in the Bela Bartok dance group's youth division in
Hungary. Upon coming to the United States, Aron danced in the Ritka Magyar Hungarian
Folk Dance Ensemble, during which period he started mastering Hungarian, Romanian
and Gypsy dances from the Carpathian Basin, learning from the most authentic sources.
He is a well-known performer and teacher in Hungarian communities of the tri-state
area, and gives workshop regularly in the Tanchaz (Hungarian Folk Dance House).
Aron also dances and teaches in the Csurdongolo Folk Dance Group in New Brunswick,
NJ, and regularly performs all over the East Coast with Eletfa Hungarian folk band,
North America's most popular Hungarian folk music band. |
